OXYMAT is pleased to announce its role in the successful handover of two PSA oxygen plants to the Ministry of Health in Uganda. Our oxygen generators, each with a capacity of 100 Nm³/h, have been installed at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital and Mubende Regional Referral Hospital. This crucial project is a significant step forward in ensuring a reliable oxygen supply to these hospitals and the surrounding healthcare facilities, directly benefiting patient care in the region.
Initial engagement and expectations
The project began with an initial collaboration between OXYMAT and Global Gases, a UAE-based company appointed by the Ugandan Ministry of Health (MoH) to oversee the delivery, installation, and maintenance of the oxygen systems. OXYMAT joined the discussions at a later stage, focusing on delivering high-quality PSA oxygen plants that met the specific needs of the Ministry.
The Ministry of Health, represented by Owen Muhimbise, had clear expectations: to equip regional hospitals with robust oxygen generation capabilities. “OXYMAT has fully met these expectations with our O2 PSA systems,” says Adrian Kucharek, who led the project from OXYMAT’s side. This alignment with the Ministry’s goals was critical in ensuring the success of the initiative.
Effective project management, positive feedback, and 15 more systems on the way
OXYMAT’s involvement in the project was marked by an effective and adaptable approach. “We have always strived to accommodate the customer’s requirements, even when they arose later in the project,” Adrian notes. This flexibility was crucial in addressing the evolving needs of the Ministry and ensuring that the project remained on track.
Feedback from the Ministry of Health has been positive, particularly regarding the performance of the installed systems. Although some units are still pending installation, those that are operational have demonstrated the reliability and efficiency that OXYMAT is known for. Currently, two oxygen generation systems are installed, however 15 more oxygen plants are on the way.
Strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Uganda
As OXYMAT continues to expand its footprint in Africa, the positive impact of this project is clear. Owen Muhimbise, representing the Ministry of Health, expressed optimism about the ongoing collaboration: “We at the Ministry of Health Uganda are looking forward to a long-term healthy working relationship with OXYMAT considering this big investment in your product.” This sentiment echoes the shared commitment to improving healthcare outcomes in Uganda and beyond.
The installation of these oxygen plants is more than just a technological achievement—it is a vital contribution to the healthcare infrastructure that will save lives and enhance the quality of care in Uganda. Smooth delivery and installation process
The delivery and installation of the oxygen generators were handled by Global Gases, with comprehensive support from OXYMAT. This collaboration ensured that both the technical and operational requirements were met seamlessly. OXYMAT provided extensive training to the representatives from Global Gases and the Ministry of Health, equipping them with the necessary skills to install, service, and maintain the systems.
Despite the logistical challenges that often accompany such installations, the project proceeded without significant hitches. The generators are now fully operational at both Jinja and Mubende Regional Referral Hospitals, providing a stable supply of oxygen and medical air—a critical resource for healthcare facilities.
